Legends Baseball defeat Untamed Baseball

LINDEN, N.J. -- On Tuesday, June 20, Legends Baseball defeated Untamed Baseball 11-0 in seven innings. Legends Baseball won behind strong pitching from Joey DiQuollo, Walter Schwartz, Joseph LoPinto, and William Collins, along with a strong offensive performance throughout the lineup, highlighted by an eight-run third inning.

Legends Baseball struck first in the top of the first inning. Collin Feeney began the game with a line drive double which landed on the left field foul line and rolled to the wall. He was driven in with two outs by Karson Harcourt, who hit a line drive single to left field.

While Legends Baseball pitcher Joey DiQuollo allowed runners in the first and second inning, he was able to escape both innings unscathed and settled in, going four scoreless innings. DiQuollo’s final line was four innings pitched, three walks, two hits, no runs, and two strikeouts, bringing his ERA on the season down to 1.20.

The offense for Legends Baseball came alive in the top of the third inning. After an error and a single to lead off the inning, Untamed Baseball pitcher, Jake Francis, began to unravel. Collin Feeney delivered again for Legends Baseball with a triple in between the left and center fielders to plate two runs. The hits kept coming as Tommy Burns brought Feeney in with a line drive to right field, extending Legends Baseball’s lead to 4-0. Later in the inning, Ty Fredo hit a double to the right field fence, bringing in another run. Legends Baseball would get three more hits and a total of 8 runs in the inning to bring their lead to 9-0.

Francis’ final line was two and two-thirds innings pitched, 10 hits, nine runs (six earned), one walk, and four strikeouts.

In the top of the fourth inning, Ty Fredo continued the scoring for Legends Baseball, launching a towering fly ball over the left field fence against pitcher Mason Fischer. Fredo’s two-run home run stretched the lead to 11-0, a score that would remain until the end of the game.

For Untamed Baseball, Fischer held the score at 11-0 following the home run by Fredo. While he allowed baserunners via the walk (five total on the night) over his three and one-third innings pitched, he consistently stranded these runners.

Untamed Baseball struggled at the plate throughout the game, reaching base just five times over seven innings (three walks and two hits). Andrew Brezina had Untamed Baseball's first hit on an infield single in the second inning, while Jack Burke had the team’s second and final hit of the night on a line drive to right field in the third inning.

Untamed Baseball fell to 2-10 on the season with the loss, while Legends Baseball improved to 8-4. Untamed Baseball will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday, June 21, when they take on the Essex Cubs before they meet back up with Legends Baseball for a rematch on Thursday, June 22.
